EXPERIENCE TINOS HABITART
Nikos and Chrysanthi, the owners – architects, have created a small settlement near the village of Triantaros that includes vacation villas for rent and a group of neighbouring traditional buildings where activities are hosted.
The private rental houses have dimensions and internal spaces that match those of typical island houses. The indoor and outdoor spaces are decorated with authentic furnishings and incorporate marble/stone artwork crafted by traditional and contemporary Tinian artists. The rental villas are equipped with every modern convenience for pleasant year-round accommodation and are functional for short or long term rental. Panoramic sea view, private swimming pools, stone made walls, architecture/decoration inspired by the island’s heritage and ultimate comfort characterize the supreme style of Tinos Habitart vacation villas.
Our traditional rental houses are ideal for travellers seeking relaxation and comfort in a
truly unique and authentic island atmosphere.
Guests may enjoy the opportunity to combine their vacation with cultural experiences, to
become familiar with the island’s culture, meet visiting artists and local craftsmen in their
workshops or participate in cooking lessons, excursions and outdoor activities.
The complex of the traditional buildings forms an open-air folk museum. It includes a replica windmill and a dovecote – the island’s most characteristic architectural typologies, a renovated traditional hut, called “keli” in the local idiom (meaning “cell”), and an olive mill that houses original machinery used to make olive oil, wine, “tsipouro” and “raki” (grape distillates). The olive mill serves also as the exhibition grounds, where cultural events like art shows, concerts, theatrical plays and symposia take place. A nearby chapel decorated with frescoes completes the picture.
All the structures of the settlement are aesthetically uniform but yet distinguished individually. Built by Tinian stonemasons, using exclusively local materials, they blend harmoniously with the natural Cycladic environment and the nearby village. This hospitable environment is created with love and attention in detail, for guests to enjoy high accommodation standards.
We pride ourselves on the quality of our creations and we are therefore delighted to see that local authorities use them as fine examples of the island’s cultural heritage. Information and pictures of our buildings can be found on the website of the municipality of Tinos, as well as on displays of the local transport service and the maritime company Blue Star Ferries. The rental villas of Tinos Habitart have also been featured in a TV5-Monde production as a typical example of the ideal Mediterranean home.
